Unnamed

At one time I thought I wanted to get into colorwash quilts, that is until I found out that you cut zillions of tiny squares, put them on a design wall and created your masterpiece. I knew that I didn't have the "eye" to create my own designs and I had no design wall. Then I found two books, Strip Pieced Watercolor Magic and Watercolorwash Bargello. Both processes used the same fabrics in colorwash quilts, but rather than your own design you used strip sets to create the quilt.

One, the strip cutting process is much faster to produce a quilt and two, you use far less fabrics (measured in quarter and half yards rather than 2 inch squares). I knew that I could make quilts that I liked with this method...there is a magic in watching the colors intermingle with each other...and a surprise when the quilt is done and the design is revealed. It's a quick process and yes, a little boring but the results are worth the boredom when you have a quilt done in a matter of days rather than weeks. For those of us that don't have an original artistic eye, this is the way to get a great watercolor wash quilt.

This quilt was given to my sister in California.

This is the first entry in my blog. I'm hoping to use it as a place to put my quilts to share with past and present guild members, friends and family. As time goes by I may be able to use it for a quilt register too. Am excited about the possibilities...maybe even get help from other quilters on those UFO's that have stopped with my quilter's block (rather than writer's).

If all it does is stimulate my creative juices it will have served it's purpose. Sometimes talking things over...or in this case...writing them down...can give me an idea that I can go full steam ahead with.

Bear with me until I get a few more pictures ready to post.
