Brown Bargello

Another one of the retirement bargello kits that I made into a quilt. I haven’t come up with a name yet…keep thinking of something earthy or something with the blue. One of the fabrics had a bit of blue in it and the blue really popped out in the finished quilt, so I added the small blue middle border. I did an allover spiral quilting motif. It was really hard to see where I was quilting on this one as the varigated thread would blend too well at times. It would have been far easier to quilt it from the back side...a lesson that I just may use in the future.

Currently I live in Idaho, but was a resident of Alaska for 32 years. I learned to quilt mostly by mistakes, magazines and books. But through the Denali Quilters Guild I was able to take wonderful classes, participate in exercises and challenges that expanded my level of expertise and interests. I have been quilting for 30 plus years, but not exclusively. It took me a while to realize that quilting was the only art/craft that I wanted to do. I have two daughters and a wonderful husband, but none share my interest in quilting other than receiving quilts. But I have high hopes for their futures as both are crafters and I feel that one day they too will get the quilting bug. Now that I am in Idaho I have discovered gardening, but quilting will never be at the bottom of my list of hobbies.
